Preface

This book is a product of the SIMS (Sustainable Intelligent Mining Systems) project, which is funded by the European Union. The vision of SIMS is to create a long-lasting impact on how we test and demonstrate new technology and solutions for the mining industry. With a selected consortium ranging from mining companies, equipment and system suppliers to top-class universities, the SIMS project will boost development and innovation through joint activities aiming at creating sustainable intelligent mining systems.

Our role in the project is to be involved in creating attractive workplaces by deeply interacting with other work project partners and influencing their designs. Our role also includes ensuring that gender aspects are considered in the various parts of the projects. We also have an important role in the social acceptance of the new technology.
